The billionaires are paying their taxes as prescribed by the tax code. When I do my taxes, I also take any deductions that are due me according to the tax code. If ProPublica has a problem with the taxes these wealthy men pay, let the news organization attempt to change the tax code. It dismays me to see such false accusations made against these icons of our economy. Their brilliance has created successful companies that give jobs to millions. W. Bush 40 years ago. Bush was right. Trickle down’s author, Arthur Laffer, was on TV only last week sneering that the lowest rung of American labor “wasn’t worth” a minimum living wage. The writer says a Times editorial “did not give proper credit to the Black and women billionaires in our supposedly white supremist, patriarchal system.” Sneerers at the reality of our white supremacist, patriarchal system place high propaganda value on that one Black or woman billionaire in a million who they contend proves the system’s merit, but who in fact proves the bitter rule.
