Anna Paulina Luna makes her pitch for congress to St. Petersburg NAACP

Anna Paulina Luna, who is running against Democratic incumbent Charlie Crist in Florida’s 13th Congressional District, answered questions from the NAACP’s St. Petersburg branch on Saturday. Crist didn’t attend. ST. PETERSBURG — Republican congressional candidate Anna Paulina Luna participated in a forum hosted by the St. Petersburg branch of the NAACP on Saturday morning. She held the floor on her own, as her opponent, U.S. Rep. Charlie Crist, did not attend due to a scheduling conflict, organizers said. Luna is battling Crist in Florida’s 13th Congressional District, which covers southern Pinellas County. Her appearance — a rapid-fire, 12-minute segment touching on racial inequality, education, police brutality and racism within the criminal justice system, COVID-19 relief and gun laws — came with 17 days left in the election and votes already being cast. Pinellas County officials have collected more than 150,000 ballots countywide, with Democrats submitting more than 24,000 more ballots than Republicans. Luna said the best way to address racial inequality in District 13 is through school choice. She recalled her high school days, when she attended six schools before receiving her diploma.
