Joe Biden, the lifelong politician from Delaware who embarked on a quest to become the nation’s oldest president, has won the nation’s highest office. The 77-year-old former vice president defeated incumbent President Donald Trump’s effort for a second term. Biden spent virtually all of the 2020 campaign season ahead of Trump in the polls. Biden beat Trump after clinching the state of Pennsylvania, putting him over the 270 Electoral College votes needed to win the presidency, the Associated Press reports. Biden is the oldest person ever elected president, beating the record set by Trump in 2016. MORE UPDATES BELOW THE MAP NOTE: The Associated Press has projected that Joe Biden will win the presidential race in Arizona, and that will be reflected in the Electoral College count below. WBAL and ABC News, meanwhile, have not yet projected a winner for Arizona because it is too close to call.
