Assault weapon ban will not negate Second Amendment: Reader

U.S. Rep. Andy Harris spoke to constituents at his Wicomico County town hall Monday evening on several topics, including guns and immigration. Wochit video by Keith Demko, Wochit I would like to thank Congressman Andy Harris for hosting a town hall meeting and for being willing to hear the concerns of his constituents. Those who had questions were asked to draw numbers. Had my number been called, I would have asked Congressman Harris if he would be willing to support a ban on the sale of assault rifles. I have 10 grandchildren. My hope is that they will live in a world where all are safe, in their schools, in their places of worship and in other venues where they may gather. The shooters at a school in Florida, a synagogue in Pittsburgh and a concert in Las Vegas were able to kill so many because they used assault rifles, designed to kill many people. I do not think banning these weapons would negate the intent of the Second Amendment to the Constitution, as this was designed to restore to people a right to own guns which had been denied during the time of British rule.
