ATP Gun Shop and Range reports uptick in gun and ammo sales on Election Day

The owners of ATP Gun Shop and Range said they have had more gun and ammo sales this Presidential Election Day when compared to previous years. (WCIV) SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCIV) — Poll sites aren’t the only places with long lines on Tuesday. At least one Lowcountry gun shop was a popular place on Election Day. The owners of ATP Gun Shop and Range said they have had more gun and ammo sales this Presidential Election Day when compared to previous years. Arlyn Pendergast said they are selling close to 50 percent more guns compared to any other day. He also added before the store opened up this morning, there were close to 20 people in line. Pendergast explained customers could be concerned about their Second Amendment rights, while making sure they are personally protected. “It tells me that the general public has some fears. When they have fear, they want to have some way of protecting themselves, because there is no way that police can protect everybody. Everywhere at the same time. It’s physically impossible,” Pendergast said. Customer Bobby Bolton said he’s concerned some political candidates will work to take gun rights away from the American people. Bolton said he encourages safe gun ownership. “I don’t believe that somebody can take away the rights of me to protect my home. My family. I don’t feel that at all,” Bolton said.
