The biggest need in the 18th District is the need for more education funding, although the Bensalem School District has gotten some of the largest increases in recent years, I have cosponsored the Fair Funding Formula legislation. This would bring an additional $7 million in education funding back to Bensalem. I would also like to address property taxes. We need to find a new revenue source that would be strictly dedicated to helping our seniors keep their homes. I believe we must pass a redistricting reform bill. We have too many legislative districts that have been hand crafted to fit one political party. In my district, there are 4700 more Democrats than Republicans, I am proud to work across the aisle to serve all of my constituents. When legislators work together in a bipartisan manner, the divisive rhetoric disappears. We need to be better prepared for future pandemics. I believe we need to form a comprehensive committee that would include the Governor, members of his administration, and members of the legislature. The goal of this committee would be to provide oversight, as we have come to find out that the Governor did not even attend meetings that determined what businesses would be shut down and the Auditor General found that the business waiver process was “inconsistent.” I believe in listening to science and data, I don’t believe in unchecked executive powers.
