Blair Co. Second Amendment Sanctuary Status Up To Voters

Former PA State Sen. John Eichelberger speaks at a recent meeting to support Blair County becoming a second amendment sanctuary. The push to make Blair County and its 24 municipalities a second amendment sanctuary took a step to reality when volunteers collected enough signatures to get two referendums on November’s general election ballot to restrict government’s ability to confiscate the guns on citizens. According to Rhonda Holland, president of the Blair County Tea Party, the two referendums – one that covers the entire county and one specific to each municipality – will enable voters to decide if government can control their right to own firearms. Holland said if the referendums pass, the government will not be able to seize legally owned guns from people. “We are making it so none of our tax dollars can be used as a means to remove the second amendment,” Holland said. “Basically, if they say they are going to seize your guns, they cannot use the police because they couldn’t pay them using our tax dollars.” Holland claims there has been a movement from the left to take guns away from people, effectively denying their second amendment right to bear arms. She said the second amendment is under attack and if people don’t act, government will take more control. “When you have certain members of congress who admit they would take our guns if they could, that is pretty clear.
