However, a Tennessee lawmaker said this is a constitutional issue and not debatable. Congressman Jim Cooper, D-TN, praised James Shaw Jr. for acting without a weapon to save lives on Sunday morning at the Waffle House on Murfreesboro Pike in Antioch. “Thankfully James Shaw Jr. was also in the restaurant to confront the shooter and to take away his weapon with his bare hands,” Cooper said earlier this week.
