While legislation regarding casino gaming is expected to generate significant local interest, the Virginia General Assembly will also deal with an array of other issues ranging from gun control and school safety to taxes and funding improvements on Interstate 81. The Virginia House and Senate formally gaveled into the new legislative session Wednesday, so the short, 46-day session, which adjourns Feb. 23, is well underway.
