After learning that the Parkland shooter bought a shotgun from a Dick’s, CEO Edward Stack decided last year the company wouldn’t sell guns to anyone under 21-years-old, according to CNN. Since the announcement, the chain has turned $5 million worth of weapons into scrap metal. In the announcement, Dick’s said it would rather destroy the guns then allow them to be sold by another retailer. Stack, a hunter and gun owner who believes strongly in the Second Amendment, said after the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, he couldn’t stand being part of the narrative of mass shootings, according to CNN. "We had a pit in our stomach," he said to CNN shortly after the shooting. "We did everything by the book that we were supposed to do, from a legal standpoint, we followed everything we were supposed to do. And somehow this kid was still able to buy a gun from us." The decision not to resell the guns cost Dick’s about a quarter of a billion dollars in revenue, according to Stack. The-CNN-Wire ™ & © 2019 Cable News Network, Inc., a Time Warner Company.
