Edmonds City Council to consider gun storage law, discuss housing strategy, hold public hearing on historic home

The Yost House. The Edmonds City Council has several key items on the agenda for its Tuesday, July 25 meeting, including passage of a proposed gun storage ordinance as well as amendments to a law governing lost or stolen firearms, plus further study of a draft City of Edmonds housing strategy. The council will also hold a public hearing regarding placement of the Yost House — located at 658 Maple St. — on the Edmonds Register of Historic Places and hear a presentation from the Edmonds Bicycle Advocacy Group. And it will discuss a proposal by the Edmonds Senior Center that the city “bear the full costs” of frontage improvements to the planned multigenerational waterfront center building. In addition, the council is scheduled to discuss an update to the city’s Critical Area Ordinance. The business meeting will begin at 7 p.m., but prior to that the council will meet at 6:15 in executive session — closed to the public — to discuss personnel, collective bargaining and pending or potential litigation matters.
