Election 2020: Barrington state rep. candidates compete for 2 seats

Incumbent Democratic state Reps. Cassandra Levesque and Matthew Towne are being challenged by Republicans Len Turcotte and Jenny Wilson for the two District 4 seats representing Barrington in the New Hampshire House. Here are responses to a 2020 Foster’s Daily Democrat questionnaire from Levesque, Towne and Turcotte. A response from Wilson will be published if it is received. Cassandra Levesque Party: Democrat Address: 204 Emerald Drive, Barrington Age: 21 Occupation: Student Civic/political experience: First-term state representative, NH Legislative Youth Advisory Council. 1. Why are you running for state representative? I am running to be the voice for my generation in the State House. The New Hampshire Legislature is the oldest legislature in the country and our youth needs representation. The House needs the diversity my fellow young representatives and I bring to it. 2. What do you see as the top three local issues facing your district and if elected how do you plan to address them? New Hampshire is a wonderful place but we have to do more to support our residents. A major issue would be that we need to support our young adults and families by ensuring they have a livable wage, quality, affordable educational opportunities, affordable housing and protect their voting rights. We also need to support measures that seek to protect the environment, including water quality standards, renewable energy initiatives, and climate justice legislation. 3.
