Former Kalamazoo County board chair faces off with real estate consultant for District 60 seat

Democrat Julie Rogers and Republican Gary Mitchell are vying for the Michigan House District 60 seat. KALAMAZOO, MI — Democrat Julie Rogers and Republican Gary Mitchell are vying for the Michigan House District 60 seat. The District 60 seat currently held by state Rep. Jon Hoadley , D-Kalamazoo, who cannot run for reelection due to term limits. The 60th District includes all of the city of Kalamazoo as well as portions of the city of Portage and Kalamazoo Township. Rogers, 44, is the former chairperson and a fourth-term commissioner on the Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners. She serves as the vice president for the National Association of Counties (NACo) Health Steering Committee and sits on the Michigan Assoc. of Counties Board of Directors. Rogers is also a lifetime member NAACP and a participant in the National Women in Government class of 2019. She works as a physical therapist at Ascension Borgess.
