Gun activists to protest through Olmos Park after weeks of confrontation with police

OLMOS PARK, Texas – The city of Olmos Park sent a notice to businesses and residents earlier this week acknowledging a planned protest throughout the city. “We want to inform you that the Olmos Park Police Department is working with neighboring municipalities and outside agencies to ensure (a) peaceful and orderly event,” the notice reads. Olmos Park repeals loaded long gun ordinance The protests follow what organizers view as unfair treatment of gun and civil rights activists over the past few months, concerning, in large part, open carry laws. While state law allows for the open carry of rifles and shotguns, until last week, Olmos Park had an ordinance prohibiting the carrying of loaded shotguns or rifles on public streets.
