Gun enthusiast shares opinion on proposed gun laws at gun show

Gun Rights

Eau Claire (WQOW)- Bob and Rocco’s Gun Show in Eau Claire was the place to be for gun enthusiasts on Sunday. At the show, News 18 spoke with Jed Row, a local private gun seller, about some recent gun laws being proposed, including red flag laws and universal background checks. A red flag law is a gun violence prevention law that allows a judge to take away someone’s gun if they’re deemed a threat to the public. Row said if red flag laws are implemented correctly they can be useful in preventing crime. He said the biggest issue for gun owners is they aren’t often well used and aren’t very effective. As for universal background checks, Row said it’s a terrible idea. “Owning a gun is a constitutional right, and making universal background checks creates an environment where people are afraid to use their constitutional liberties,” Row said. Row said even if someone does pass a background check, public sellers should have a right to deny selling anyone a gun. He said if a seller believes something doesn’t seem right with the person wanting to buy the gun, they should be able to not sell it. Trump seeks cuts for cleanup of Great Lakes, other waterways
