Higgins faces Kaczynski for Rochester Wards 1, 6 state rep. seat

Kaczynski Jr. for the Strafford County District 22 seat representing Rochester Wards 1 and 6 in the New Hampshire House. The opponents’ responses to the 2020 Foster’s Daily Democrat candidate questionnaire are below. Peg Higgins Party: Democrat Address: 64 Pray St., Rochester Age: 71 Occupation: Retired Rochester teacher Civic/political experience: This is my first term in representing Rochester wards 1 and 6 in the NH legislature. This has been my first experience serving in NH politics. 1. Why are you running for state representative? I am running to represent the citizens for wards 1 and 6 in Rochester. If elected I will continue to listen to my constituents concerns and bring their voices to the state. 2. What do you see as the top three local issues facing your district and if elected how do you plan to address them? * Increase the minimum wage to a livable wage. Currently NH minimum wage is $7.25, a rate that does not provide for anyone to support themselves in todays economy. This is the lowest minimum wage in our surrounding states. * Property tax relief. The state needs to provide funds that take the burden off the property owner. Providing adequate funds to support education would be a big step in accomplishing this goal. * Support for those addicted to substances.
