Jim Carrey takes shot at Kent State gun advocate

1 / 1 Kaitlin Bennett Gun rights Actor Jim Carrey is taking a shot at a Kent State University graduate and gun advocate who posed for photos on campus carrying an A-10. The image of Kaitlin Bennett with the long gun slung over her shoulder and words “Come and Take It” on her graduation cap went viral on social media and made national news. Carrey, who’s known for making fun of conservatives through his paintings, painted an image of Bennett in one of her poses on campus. He tweeted the painting Friday with the words: “And the devil said, ‘Thanks a bunch Goldilocks. Enjoy the show in Santa Fe tomorrow. Someday, real soon, I’ll have you for dinner.’” Carrey’s tweet had been liked more than 55,000 times and received more than 2,200 comments as of Monday morning. Bennett had posted photos of herself on social media with the weapon as a protest against Kent State policy that allows visitors to carry guns, but prohibits students, staff and faculty from doing so. Bennett, a 22-year-old Second Amendment supporter from Zanesville, is the founder of Liberty Hangout at Kent State, a student media outlet that promotes libertarian values. ——— ©2018 the Akron Beacon Journal (Akron, Ohio) Visit the Akron Beacon Journal (Akron, Ohio) at www.ohio.com Distributed by Tribune Content Agency, LLC.
