Johnson City Man Accused of Possessing Stolen Gun in Binghamton

A man wanted on a probation violation warrant faces charges after Binghamton police say they found a stolen loaded handgun in his coat pocket after a traffic stop on Court Street. Authorities say 31-year-old Anthony Boyd of Johnson City was charged with resisting arrest and criminal possession of stolen property. He also faces two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. According to police, Community Response Team officers stopped a vehicle near 227 Court Street on Wednesday. Investigators say Boyd struggled with officers as he was being searched. Police say he was discovered to be in possession of a .40 caliber Beretta which was reported stolen from Endwell in October 2019. Boyd was arraigned in Binghamton City Court and sent to Broome County Jail. Police say the driver of the vehicle, 36-year-old Salka Valerio of Binghamton, was ticketed for failure to signal.
