Gun Rights

I own more than 20 guns. I belong to the NRA, and after 71 years on this earth I have seen guns go from being in the closet for a yearly hunting trip to tools to act out and express rage against our fellow citizens. Banning all guns won’t ever happen, but there are partial solutions that would make an immediate difference: First, banning all semi-automatic weapons; and second, restricting all magazines to four cartridges. I killed my first several deer with a single-shot rifle, and my father would not allow me to have more firepower than that until I proved my marksmanship. Hunters seldom get multiple shots, as the animal has bolted; and if you need more than four, you should become a vegetarian. Thirty- or 60-round semi-auto magazines are only designed to kill things, be it in war or in the communities we live in. With a bolt action, the shooter won’t be able to rattle off 30 shots in less than a minute. Second Amendment people argue that they need the firepower in case of a government takeover. So you and you buddies armed with 5.56 mm rifles are going to take on tanks and fighter jets? Get real!
