Letters: Get school money from gun industry

While it’s certainly important for our children to be safe at school and for our teachers to be paid a fair living wage, going to the taxpayers is the wrong solution. We would be better served if you taxed the multi-billion dollar industry of weapons. It is a pretty bad testimony to our society that there is nowhere safe to be anymore thanks to this country’s obsession with guns. Tax every gun, every bump stock attachment to a gun, every bullet; better yet, anything to do with the sale of guns in our county. After all, the gun industry and some of our well funded NRA politicians are the reason we are in this terrible situation. More guns are not the answer, even in the schools.
