While it may be easy to make a purchase from our computers, some pesticide products sold on Amazon can dangerously impact our state and its natural environment. Environment California is working to ban the sale of bee-harming insecticides that contain neonicotinoids that disrupt the central nervous systems of bee species. This means that a bee’s exposure to this chemical can cause problems with the insect’s navigation, development and foraging patterns. We rely on these bees and other pollinating insects to sustainably pollinate 75% of all our food crops . Today, retailers including Home Depot, Lowe’s and Walmart have already made commitments to reduce and eventually eliminate the production and sale of neonicotinoid pesticides in their stores. We hope that Amazon will join these other retailers and stop the sale of pesticides with neonicotinoids.
