Missouri won't allow Biden to take gun rights

It was my proud honor to sponsor and champion the Second Amendment Preservation Act now signed into law. Our right to keep and bear arms is listed as one of our most fundamental rights as Americans, and not even our government can be allowed to infringe on those rights. We knew that SAPA would put us in the Biden administration’s sights, and now they’ve decided to pull the trigger; the governor’s ink is barely dry on the legislation and already the Biden administration is decrying SAPA as unconstitutional and seeking to void federal legislation. Governor Parson and Attorney General Eric Schmitt said it best in their letter responding to the Biden administration: “We will not stand by while the federal government tries to tell Missourians how to live our lives.” It may come as a surprise to the liberal elites in Washington, but not only can we Missouri folks read, but we’ve also read the Constitution and understand what it means. Of course we know that a state cannot void federal legislation on its own — that’s the basic premise of the Supremacy Clause. But we know for a fact that the federal government cannot co-opt a state’s law enforcement agencies to enforce federal laws; and that’s exactly what SAPA prevents. SAPA is not saying that federal legislation is null and void, but it does say that Missouri’s law enforcement officials are not going to be Joe Biden’s or Nancy Pelosi’s personal police force.
