Pfluger holds Second Amendment rally with Rep. Lauren Boebert

Congressman August Pfluger and Rep. Lauren Boebert of Colorado U.S. Rep. August Pfluger held a Second Amendment rights rally at Ally Outdoors in Midland on Thursday with fellow freshman Congressional member Lauren Boebert of Colorado. Pfluger said in an interview that he wanted to host a rally with Boebert because she’s a gun-rights activist and they’ve both signed on to pieces of legislation regarding Second Amendment rights. “She’s a champion for that issue and I want to make sure that people here in Midland, Texas, and all throughout Texas know there’s many people fighting these battles, that we’re doing it together as a team, and that we’re going to protect that right for all Americans,” he said. The congressman pointed to President Joe Biden’s nomination to lead the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms as evidence of the administration’s intention to limit the Second Amendment. Biden had nominated David Chipman, a senior policy advisor for the gun control group Giffords. The White House withdrew Chipman from consideration last week. Pfluger also said Democrats are introducing legislation “every single day” to limit gun rights, such as House Resolution 5717, which would raise taxes on firearms to 30 percent, among other things.
