(ASSOCIATED PRESS) Kevin Paffrath Democrat Kevin Paffrath is a YouTube personality and financial adviser. He lives in Ventura. Q: Why should Gov. Gavin Newsom be recalled? A: Gov. Gavin Newsom’s leadership has failed our state: homelessness, housing, crime, traffic and schooling have gotten worse under Gov. Newsom. He misstated our wildfire prevention in 2020 by 690 percent, as much as 80 percent of our cannabis sales are illegal five years after legalization, he claims rent-relief money comes from a roaring-back California — yet 92 percent of rent relief money came from the federal government and the governor has only given 8 percent to Californians as of July 2021, and he sued his own administration for missing a deadline in a law that he signed into law. (He lost.) He’s gone from defunding the high-speed rail to supporting it, despite it having a 71-year break-even. He broke our trust dining with lobbyists during the lockdown at the French Laundry, and consolidates power in the governor’s office at the cost of normal Californians (consider Senate Bill 7, consolidating $15 million real estate developments to his office for speedier environmental approvals, to which smaller developers don’t share in). We need an honest leader; one who won’t mislead the public, and one who will finally tackle the massive issues we have in the state.
