Congressman Matt Gaetz, like many other gun apologists, says the 2nd Amendment is about the right of the people to protect themselves against a tyrannical government. Of course, he misunderstands the Constitution and our history once again. The Second Amendment gives the right to bear arms only as part of a “well regulated militia” (like today’s National Guard). It came about at a time when a standing army was not preferred and at a time when many of our founders were concerned that local, violent uprisings would be the ruination of our new republic. In any case, no right is unlimited, which Gaetz and others of his ilk seem to forget. Regarding the minorities in commercials. I agree. Those people make up 1% to 2 % of the buying public yet they’re in 90% of the commercials. What happened to targeting commercials to the people who are spending the money? Ed from Orland Park claims that after watching four hours of commercial TV that 90% of the commercials featured a Black person as a main or supporting character.
