"Stop using dead kids to push gun control" sign says at Second Amendment Rally

Many gathered at City Hall Saturday to protest their right to bear arms, and defend the second amendment. This comes on the heels of Governor Greg Abbott’s roundtable discussion about safety in schools, which wrapped up last week. Many people who demonstrated, say the second amendment plays a major role in these discussions about mass shootings. “We think it’s really important now, there’s a huge discussion for gun control and for undermining our liberties and we figured now is probably the right time. Shootings have been heightened lately." CJ Grisham founded Open Carry Texas five years ago. He’s also the president of the organization. “I want our kids to be safe. I want the same things as those who are with I want our kids to be safe. But obviously they’re not safe using gun control. A law isn’t going to protect themselves. Right now,” Grisham says. A big talking point for many, was the Santa Fe High school shooting that killed 10 people last month. Last week, Govenor Greg Abbott says discussions were happening, "to make sure we will not lose any more students in our schools because of gun fire." Recently, Governor Greg Abbott joined state and local leaders to unveil his school and firearm safety action plan.
