Gun Rights

Fire Dept. problem has simple solution After reading an article concerning the investigation into the Huntington Fire Department equipment, isn’t it simple? The fire chief should be responsible for seeing all equipment is operational. Each station should be responsible for checking the oil and minor maintenance. If there is a major breakdown, it should be reported to the fire chief, and she should be held responsible for making sure it’s fixed. You all are making mountains out of molehills. Surely the chief has a budget for maintaining equipment. Gun ‘rights’ debate is just a distraction The Second Amendment doesn’t say anyone can carry guns anywhere. Keep in mind the purpose of the Second Amendment was to ensure the country is defended by "well-organized militias" and NOT a professional, permanent army. In their wisdom, the founders knew corporate politicians would end up using an army not to defend us but to control other countries. They were right, but conservatives twist the constitution to suit their need to invade other countries and to distract voters from our real problems.
