Woman at Conn. gun meeting texts she’d like to ‘blow away’ a pro-gun congressman and members of the NRA

(Eric Gay / AP) Luckily for members of the National Rifle Association, including steadfast Second Amendment advocate Sen. Rob Sampson , a woman who wanted to shoot them all didn’t have access to a gun. An unnamed attendee at a Hartford, Conn., gun rally was tossed out on Monday when a WTNH reporter spotted her texting to someone “If I had a gun, I’d blow away Sampson and a large group of the NRA.” It’s unclear to whom the woman was texting, but that person also made reference to Sampson during the text message exchange. WTNH reported the “Sampson” in the exchange was the Connecticut lawmaker. The meeting reportedly dealt with gun-safety topics including open-carry permits and 3-D printed weapons. Sampson is a staunch gun advocate who received a perfect grade from the NRA and was honored with their 2014 Defender of Freedom Award. He took office in 2011 — the year before a mass-shooting took the lives of 20 children at Sandy Hook Elementary School, which is 25 miles from New Haven, Conn., where Sampson was born.
