Yarbrough announces candidacy for state representative

Alan Yarbrough has announced his candidacy as a Republican candidate for the newly-drawn Arkansas House of Representatives District 27. The district includes Izard, Newton, and Searcy counties, and parts of Baxter and Stone counties. Yarbrough, the retiring superintendent of the Searcy County School District, made his announcement at the Searcy County Republican meeting on Nov. 11. Yarbrough has been employed in the Searcy County School District as a teacher, coach, high school principal, and superintendent for the past 27 years. Prior to that, he was a teacher and coach in the Melbourne, Timbo, and former Tri-County school districts. “Having been in public education for the past 31 years, I am very familiar with many of the communities in our district,” Yarbrough said. “If I’m elected state representative, I will continue to use the knowledge and leadership skills I’ve developed to serve you in the legislature.” Yarbrough is member of the Searcy County Chamber of Commerce Tiger Team that works to recruit new industry to Searcy County. He is also a member of the Marshall Rotary Club. He is a 1983 graduate of Marshall High School and has a BSE from the University of Central Arkansas and an MSE from Arkansas State University.
