A crowd of about 100 people gathered Sunday inside Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church in New London to discuss gun violence. The forum was scheduled prior to the school shooting on Friday in Santa Fe, Texas. Most of the attendees were adults, but the event was organized by the Saint Andrew’s youth group. A number of questions were asked, and opinions from both gun owners and those who support stricter gun laws were discussed. Attendees said the conversation is happening across the country to find common ground on the issue of gun violence. "There’s a lot more common ground and a lot more agreement that could be reached if people knew where the other side was coming from. There’s a lot of assumptions made, and I think a solution could be found if we just work towards that goal," said Kate Kelly, of Newbury. Students said the conversation will not end with this forum and that they hope to continue it with lawmakers on the local and state levels.
